Medical Nutrition Therapy
Our food and nutrition services team members play an important role in your recovery and continued good health by making sure your unique nutritional requirements are being met.
At Riverview Medical Center we offer you menu selections that meet your nutrient requirements as established by the Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute of Medicine and the National Academy of Sciences, and you will also have the chance to meet one-on-one with a registered dietitian (RD). The need for proper nutrition is an important component of the healing process and our team is dedicated improving your health.
Our Clinical Team
Our registered dietitians are experts in food and nutrition, and have completed academic requirements and credentialing established by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Clinical dietitians play a vital role in the health care team by providing nutritional care to our patients in various disease states and conditions. Compromised nutrition in a hospital setting can lead to a slower healing process, delay recovery, and may extend hospital stays. Our clinical dietitians monitor, assess, and optimize nutrition status based on your current medical condition and/or nutrition adequacy. They confer with physicians and other health care professionals to coordinate medical and nutritional needs. Our clinical dietitians teach you how to make nutritionally sound food choices to speed the recovery process, prevent disease and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Some patients require specialized diets to assist with condition management. If you have questions or concerns about your prescribed diet or would like nutritional counseling, tell your registered nurse or physician that you would like to speak with a registered dietitian.
